Oversight Chair Who Declined To Investigate Trump Not Seeking Re-Election — WCCO | CBS Minnesota

Utah Rep. Jason Chaffetz, a Republican who doggedly investigated Hillary Clinton before the 2016 presidential election but declined to investigate President Donald Trump, said Wednesday he won’t run for re-election or any other office in 2018.

Chaffetz, who has been rumored as a possible candidate for Senate or governor, says that after consulting with his family and “prayerful consideration, I have decided I will not be a candidate for any office in 2018.”

The 50-year-old Chaffetz had strolled to four easy re-election wins in his Republican-friendly Utah congressional district. But he was facing a surprising challenge from a Democratic newcomer who raised more than a half-million dollars by tapping into anger over Chaffetz’ recent comment suggesting people should spend their money on health insurance instead of iPhones.

Dr. Kathryn Allen has been transformed from a political unknown into a liberal hero for calling out Chaffetz on Twitter, giving her an early boost in name recognition.

Chaffetz, the chairman of the House Oversight Committee, also drew fire from Democrats after saying he would not investigate Trump’s sprawling business empire, given that he had promised before the 2016 election that he would investigate Clinton “for years” if she was elected.

In a statement on Facebook, Chaffetz noted that he has long advocated that public service should be for a limited time. He said that after more than 1,500 nights away from home, “it is time” to step aside.

Chaffetz said he has “no ulterior motives” is healthy and confident he would re-elected.

In FNC’s Mediabuzz coverage of today’s announcement, Howard Kurtz reported that his bosses severed ties to O’Reilly “after mounting allegations of sexual harassment and inappropriate behavior prompted the network to end his program.”

O’Reilly’s statement:

Over the past 20 years at Fox News I have been extremely proud to launch and lead one of the most successful news programs in history, which has consistently informed and entertained millions of Americans and significantly contributed to building Fox into the dominant news network in television. It is tremendously disheartening that we part ways due to completely unfounded claims. But that is the unfortunate reality many of us in the public eye must live with today.

I will always look back on my time with Fox with great pride in the unprecedented success we achieved and with my deepest gratitude to all my dedicated viewers. I wish only the best for Fox News Channel.

Buyers’ Remorse Is Setting In For Some In PA Who Voted For The President — Gronda Morin

There is a recent Pennsylvania poll demonstrating that buyers remorse is beginning to felt by some who voted for the republican President Donald Trump. He will always have his hard core supporters but outside of this group, those who voted for him are having second thoughts. There is a recent poll which supports this premise as well as a first hand account by a reporter who returned to the scene of a county which delivered a narrow victory for our president.

Let’s hope that this state of voters’ regrets is a true mirror of how Americans are feeling across the country. Today, 4/18/17, there is a Georgia special election taking place to fill the republican seat previously held by the current HHS Secretary Tom Price. The president won in this district by about 1%. If the highly qualified democratic contender Jon Ossoff prevails in this race, this will be a positive sign for democrats in the 2018 election cycle. He has served in the Georgia General Assembly. On 4/18, he can win the 6th district’s seat outright in the U.S. Congress if he wins by more than 50%. If he wins with a margin of less than 50%, he will have to run again against the republican nominee on June 20.

shows less than one-third of all Pennsylvania voters approve of the job President Donald Trump is doing.”

“The Franklin and Marshall College poll shows only 32 percent of those surveyed think Trump is doing a “good” or “excellent” job.”

“Remember, the job performance of even Sen. [Bob] Casey is not good. The fact of the matter is that the voters – Democrats and Republicans – are pretty fed up with politics,” Poll Director Terry Madonna said.”

Carter Page Went to Moscow With a Tape of Donald Trump Offering Treason For Hacking

patribotics

Sources with links to the intelligence community say it is believed that Carter Page went to Moscow in early July carrying with him a pre-recorded tape of Donald Trump offering to change American policy if he were to be elected, to make it more favorable to Putin. In exchange, Page was authorized directly by Trump to request the help of the Russian government in hacking the election.

On November 7th I reported that the FBI had been granted a FISA warrant to investigate the activities of two Russian banks, Alfa Bank and Silicoln Valley Bank. I also reported that an earlier attempt to obtain a FISA warrant, in June, had failed in the court because it named Donald Trump himself and three of his associates. In an exclusive at Patribotics, I reported that these named associates were Carter Page, Paul Manafort, and Boris Epshteyn.

Sources close to the intelligence community now report that…
