1. Tuesday morning, the Trump administration announced that Mike Dubke has resigned as White House communications director. Dubke has only served in the capacity as communications director for 3 months but offered his resignation on May 15th. The administration had Dubke stay on as director through the President’s overseas trip which ended this past weekend. In an email sent out Monday evening to his co-workers, Dubke stated that,” it has been my great honor to serve President Trump and this administration. It has also been my distinct pleasure to work side-by-side, day-by-day with the staff of the communications and press departments.” According to other news sources this is only the first step in a shake up within the administration and more departments will have personnel changes.

2. President Trump is continuing his dialogue on Twitter stating that Germany is receiving a better trade deal between the two countries and that the United States will be changing that deal. “We have a MASSIVE trade deficit with Germany, plus they pay FAR LESS than they should on NATO & military,” Trump tweeted. “Very bad for U.S. This will change.” The tweet from President Trump comes after German Chancellor Angela Merkel expressed doubt in the relationship between the two countries. Merkel stated Sunday, “The times when we could completely rely on others are, to an extent, over.” After Trump returned from the 9 day overseas foreign tour, he stated that the trip was a tremendous success. Yet, European leaders had hoped for the President to endorse Article 5 of the NATO charter, which states that an attack on one member of the military alliance is viewed as an attack on all and requires each nation supporting the other.
