Tuesday evening, President Donald Trump announced the dismissal of the FBI’s director, James Comey. In a statement, the President announced that the decision comes after the advice of the Attorney General of the United States, Jeff Sessions and the Assistant Attorney General to remove Comey at the FBI. The reason for the removal was the handling of the email investigation into Hillary Clinton shortly before the November election.

The firing of Comey comes at a time when the FBI is investigating ties between Russia and members of the Trump election campaign. In the letter that Trump sent to Comey calling for his dismissal, Trump stated that, “While I greatly appreciate you informing me, on three separate occassinos, that I am not under investigation, I nevertheless concur with the judgement of the Department of Justice that you are not able to effectively lead the Bureau.” The spelling error is on the letter that Trump sent to Comey.
