1. Thursday, President Donald Trump, in an interview with Reuters, spoke about North Korea and its leader Kim Jong Un declaring that the actions of North Korea could cause a “major, major conflict.” Continuing Trump stated that he hoped that “we’d love to solve things diplomatically but it’s very difficult.” When asked what his opinion on the North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, Trump stated, “as to whether or not he’s rational, I have no opinion on it. I hope he’s rational.” Trump concluded that Un has not had it easy as North Korea’s leader. Trump said of Un, “he’s 27 years old. His father dies, took over a regime. So say what you want but that is not easy, especially at that age. I’m not giving him credit or not giving him credit, I’m just saying that’s a very hard thing to do.”

2. Thursday, Democrats on the House Oversight Committee the Department of Defense Inspector General’s Office has launched an investigation of former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn. Ranking Democrat Elijah Cummings also stated that the White House is not cooperating with the committee and that the White House has not released documents pertaining to how Flynn was vetted for his positon within the Trump Administration. Sean Spicer, Press Secretary for the White House put the blame on Obama Administration for Flynn receiving national security clearance. Spicer argued “why would you rerun a background check on someone who was the head of the Defense Intelligence Agency that had and did maintain a high-level security clearance?”
