In an amazing about face, the New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has announced Friday, that President Elect Donald Trump and his corporation have agreed to “$25 million settlement agreement is a stunning reversal by Donald Trump and a major victory for the over 6,000 victims of his fraudulent university.” The settlement covers 2 other lawsuits that President Elect Trump faced in California.

The Attorney General also stated that “I am pleased that under the terms of this settlement, every victim will receive restitution and that Donald Trump will pay up to $1 million in penalties to the State of New York for violating state education laws.” Trump will not admit to any wrongdoing in the final agreement. Class action lawyers for the students were not planning to seek attorney’s fees, but reimbursement for costs, according to Reuters.

In California, Judge Gonzalo Curiel who is overseeing the suit in that state, urged both sides to settle. President Elect Trump, while campaigning for the Presidency, appealed to voters saying that the lawsuit could never fair due to the heritage of Judge Curiel, whose parents were born in Mexico. The belief was that the Judge could not be impartial due to Trump’s plan to build a wall between the Southern border of the United States and Texas. Judge Curiel was to hear arguments Friday by Trump’s attorney’s to delay the trial until the swearing in of the President Elect.

Attorney General Eric Schneiderman stated that the settlement was for “The victims of Trump University have waited years for today’s result and I am pleased that their patience – and persistence – will be rewarded by this $25 million settlement.” Previously Schneiderman called Trump University a “fraud from beginning to end.” In June, candidate Trump stated that he” could have settled that case. I just choose not to.”
