Neal hit Matthews as the wideout tried to catch a pass from quarterback Carson Wentz in the fourth quarter of the game and replays of the play make it clear that there was helmet-to-helmet contact that warranted a penalty. Neal said after the game that he didn’t think he had made contact with Matthews’ head and said he tries not to go high in such situations.”

“Never do I ever attempt to hit someone in the head,” Neal said in his postgame media session. “That’s just not the type of player I am. I’m not there to play like that. [Falcons Head Coach Dan Quinn] always talks about the strike zone. You guys know I’m a physical player, but I’m not trying to hit the dude in the head. They didn’t call a flag. I didn’t try to hit him in the head. I don’t think I hit him in the head, but I didn’t attempt to hit him in the head.”
