Sunday, after hearing the news today that another 3 police officers were gunned down in Baton Rouge in another ambush styled assault that also injured 2 others, I was in shock.  This attack comes on the heels of the murder of 5 Dallas police officers who were gunned down in a sniper attack that also injured 9 other officers and injured 2 civilians. Shock gave way to being really pissed off. So I am just going to say it, WTF, Is it open season on cops now? In our area, we watched in horror as Philadelphia Police Officer Jesse Hartnett was ambushed while in his squad car. Harnett was shot 3 times but thankfully survived thr attack. Then last month in Folcroft, we said our prayers again as Officer  Christopher Dorman survived an attack where he was shot 7 times.

Are all cops to blame for what we have seen on Facebook Live or in cell phone videos of unarmed Black men being killed? Our society is inheritably racist. I get it. It needs to change. I get that. What I don’t get is the idiots who say the murders of the police officers are justified. I don’t see how taking the life of a police officer makes sense or that justice is served in anyway with the calculated attack on any police department across the country. Am I crazy? Am I dense? What is wrong with me for saying I am sick of seeing the murder of anyone in our society? I am so mad. Mad doesn’t begin to say how I feel

There are days when you are witness to something terrible. A car accident, a neighbor in distress or a robbery takes place. Most people see a terrible event, they witness it but they don’t know how to help. They aren’t trained to step in. No, they pick up their phone and they call 911 so that those who swore to protect us, that’s right, us will come out and take care of the problem. Do you get that? They don’t think of themselves first, they think of us first. WTF, and now we are killing them?

Listen, I know racism exists but is racism a valid excuse to take the life of a police officer who wasn’t even involved in that Facebook Live murder or in the assault of an unarmed civilian? Is it okay now just to gun down police officers? I am perplexed. I watched CNN and listened to a town hall on race and heard that it is understandable why the sniper in Dallas did what he did? Are you freaking kidding me?

I don’t have the answers to everything. I am just a 54-year-old woman who has been around the block a few times. I believe in my life I have seen some of the best of people and I have experience some of the worst of mankind. My prayer now is the best of us, the best of human kind can rise to the top and stop this madness. It has to end.We must overcome.
