A West Philadelphia day care worker is being credited by police and the family of a 9 year old toddler, with saving the life of a toddler found chewing on a bag of crack cocaine outside the day care. According to Philadelphia Police the child was playing outside at the Works of Learning Early Daycare on Haverford Avenue near 52nd Street Tuesday morning , when one of the daycare workers saw that the child was chewing on something. The daycare worker carefully opened the toddler’s mouth where she found a small plastic bag which was later to be found to be crack cocaine. The quick actions of that daycare worker kept the child from ingesting anymore of the deadly drug.
Now there is an investigation as to how the child had the drugs and if she had picked them up on the playground of the daycare center. Police have already said they do not believe the child got the drugs but said that they do not believe it was inside the day care. Child welfare services are reportedly involved in the matter.
