Upper Darby Police Office of the Month February 2016

The Upper Darby Police Department each month takes nominations for Officer of the Month and for the month of February the nominees are:

Officer Steven Cortese

Officer Shannon Duke

Officer Robert Marvil, Jr

Officer Montes Trapp

Each of the candidates have shown to excel in their duties but for the month of February the committee has selected Officer Robert Marvil, Jr. as this month’s recipient. Sergeant Anthony Vaughn wrote in his nomination of Officer Marvil the following:

Officer Robert Marvil is a 2-year veteran of the Upper Darby Police Department and is a member of the Upper Darby Police Department SWAT Team. He has recently married and has one child.

On Monday, February 22, 2016, Officer Marvil was on patrol. He observed a running vehicle next to Cawley’s Pub just prior to closing time. Officer Marvil conducted surveillance and observed a male enter Cawley’s then exit without purchasing any take out. The male then left in the vehicle that Officer Marvil had under surveillance. The vehicle was stopped a block away. A check of the male revealed a .38 cal handgun and a black ski mask. The male was arrested and charged. I believe Officer Marvil prevented an armed robbery or worse by taking that male into custody.

Congratulations Officer Robert Marvil, Jr. and thank you for your service to the community and dedication to duty.
